sounds to me like your bathfan is drawing attic air into the bathroom along with dust from the attic. VERY common problem i see all the time. make sure your fan housing is sealed to the drywall.

as long as the return is sized correctly for both units running at the same time, and a backdraft damper installed before or after both units, i see no problem with a shared return... i would prefer...

are you sure your on the phone with the contractor and not an underqualified "tech" in the field? in most states the license is not that easy to get, and the likely scenario is someone in a job...

Ruud/Rheem make a skinny cabinet in 2 ton too... all the 2 ton A/Hs go up to at least 15 seer (without breaking out a product catalog) above that id have to look it up

i dont care for it all that much... i do like how the cond. grill comes right out with 4 screws allowing easy access... but the rubber grommets where the refrig lines go into the A/H are kind of a...
