Found this after a couple calls of No Heat that reset itself. Roofers covered the intake with asphalt and broke the fitting. I had to replace the whole concentric vent. :gah:
You say you have 12 volts on "G" at the air handler. How are you testing this? Are you going G -> Common or G -> Ground or R -> G?.
If you have 12volts from G (wire from the tstat) -> Common with...

Ugh, the thought of going into local restaurants makes me sick.
This IS prob the best way, or you can start off in the residential HVAC field, and work you way into the commercial refrigeration...

I work for Hussmann which is now owned by CD/R. Things are not as good as they can be, I find that the management sees and wants things in a way that is very difficult. Even when we were with Trane...
I wanted to share one of my service call problems because, well it stumped me so bad, that I feel like I need to pass the knowledge on. I'm sure most of you veteran techs may know this...
What refrigerant are you working with?
What was the outdoor temp at the time of your pressure readings?
What is the superheat and subcool reading?
What is the suction pressure?
Does the condenser...
I have had the same problem with my meter as well.
It only seems to be off in temp when it is very cold. I live in NH where outside temps can be very cold in the winter. When my meter is very cold,...
I rarely come to the fourms. I'm looking for a little help on what I am not seeing.
Are you not helping me because I have not submitted an EPA certification?
I went on a no A/C service call the other day.
I arrived, turned the a/c on, and then went in the attic to check the Fan, filter, and coil. Fan, filter, and coil were good. It was an orifice...
HV as in High Voltage?
No this is a regular Residential split 4 ton system. 208/230v with a programmable t-stat.
I'm working on scanning my Universial. Dam scanner is broken :/
I ran into a system today that was acting funny. It was short-cycling off the freeze stat in the attic for one, and the subcooling did not seem correct.
here are my numbers

That is how a thermostat works. What are you expecting of it? Do you think it records the temp rising and compensates to keep the temp low?
Many Thermostats are different, lets say If you set the...
Last week was the 1st week I have been on-call for My Company. I waiting to see if i was compensated. If not I will continue with my regualr personal life, and if my pager goes off and i'm drinking...
I never asked them, but I'm sure they will not cover them if I get fired or quit. I'm a long way from retiring so thats out of the question.
I'm def not going out of my way to get these asap. Our...
Wouldnít this take forever! Most contain R-22 right? If this air conditioner worked correctly, air going threw the evap would be so cold the refrigerant would not evaporate causing a flood-back to...
Nice job :D
I would not suggest a heat pump in New York, its not very efficient in the winter. Then again if its for tenants, they will be paying the electric bill.
IMO, I like Propane better because it is...
I would think they would need to change the type of refrigerant, metering divice, and maybe the compressor. Than add a condenser fan cycling switch. Maybe a freeze stat with a defrost heater.
Wow thatís kind of interesting
Military expense, I LOLed
I didnít realize people are dieing that quick, kinda sad.
I talked to my Service manager today. After showing him a quote for $1,300 on just the questionable Company/Tech supplied tools
