I always felt ,when I was an OEM tech., just give them a start signal and let them control themselves.
Some control people THINK they know better....go figure.
On McQuay's centrifugals; at the oil sump fill/drain valve, preferably with unit running for at least 15 minutes.
On later version McQuay screws, at the oil seperator on the discharge line.
