Its going to be a great day today.... Disassemble.
Always measure that new coil before taking the old one out.
Hard lesson.
What ever happened to relying on the wiring diagram and revert to the basics of electricity?? Its amazing how things start to make sense when you just stick to the basics and work your way through...
I saw his other entry after I posted. lol. My guess is that he has other problems that killed his cap.
Is your Condenser bulging? If its Leaking and you can hear it than you have some serious issues. Better call your HVAC contact because most likely you have or had some High head press. issues.
I would think bringing it back down to ground level to do a comp. change out would be in order.
I love these calls . I know I have to go up there and possibly clean that coil. This Lennox was hung up in an alley. Ended up being just a routine clean & check. 279811
Ask yourself if its really worth spending all that money on a new A/C system and not get a new indoor coil. It will be clean and no corrosion and provide more efficiantcy. Im sure the steel on your...
There has to be a place somewhere on an exterior wall. If you have that many windows your in trouble.
Who ever "Topped" off your system needs to look at his readings again and see what his superheat and subcooling were . There is a reason why your Coil temp. td is so low.

A dirty Condenser can cause a system to leak if it was a 410a system. The high head pressure can climb over 500psi. As mentioned before , the service port will leak.

I guess some Companies cant afford screws and caulk.
Had a 3 ton split today kill a dual cap and pop the 240v breaker . The coil was not covered what so ever. Everything was on the inside and it was running a 350p head. (r22). Cleaned with coil cleaner...
You bet. I have come to find out that we have had other problems with this system in the past. Leaking shreader valves , leak in the loop. (I had to charge up the loop when I went on this call couple...
One in paticular is a Geo Comfort m#GTC060A11CD . This is a split system with vertical loops. As far as if my boss installed them correctly I honestly have no doubts in his Craftmanship to detail...
Assuming that your indoor coil and filter are clear and you cleaned the condenser coil good. Even use coil cleaner on that bad boy since it was nasty dirty. I would say a 4*f SH is pretty low and 300...
We have had several customers who have been turning there stats down to 70* in the 100* heat. The loop temp has gone from a normal 80 - 90* to 110 and then shutting down on high head . Anybody else...
So with a correct charge you will still be able to achieve SC with a dirty Condenser coil. The refrigerant is not going to pick up heat , it just wont saturate into a liquid all the way through the...
Typically no one can predict if a compressor is going to die. It happens everyday. There is no need to worry if the tech did something to cause this in his 45 mins there. Keep trust in your Company...
Is it possible to be overcharged enough to have a high SC but not enough to tripp the HPS or OL? A covered coil will definitely do either but a coil with sediment and dirt in the coil can still give...
I carry a police issued night stick in my van. Picked it up at an auction. Its heavy and can deliver a hit. Never had to use it and the dogs are pretty well mannered @ 90% of the houses I go to. When...
My drive and intentions have changed dramatically over the past 10 years. It has gone from just having a job and a paycheck and heck with all that sense of ownership BS. To being fortunate to have a...
Looks like you were in a tight closet. Nice work.
So, all three service companies use you as a service tech and only one of them has you as a full employee? how do you have time to do service work for the other two?
This is pretty simple advice but in reality its hard to do. I have tried this myself with great and not so great results but the secret is not giving up.
I dress up like I was getting ready for a...
I pulled the burners and they were in decent shape. Scoped the HX and couldnt locate one. Burns real nice with the blower on. No waves or fluttering. The HO has told me her husband always took care...
I also think you may have a flue restriction. You also have a good strong pilot right? just asking. is this propane? if so the pilot has to be clean 1st thing.

sorry the image is sideways.
I believe this is a G07 model. This is one of the units we just inherited on our service agreements. It was nice and clean and looked good overall. Do any of you have any memories on these...
Well then . I definitly am impressed. Not alot of guys can get er hot and keep er hot like that.
It does help to have the space to work and move around. This job looks like the type you will...
If its not safe then I am not doing it. You cant get wrote up for following safety protocol.
You did the right thing in my book.
Geez JCT. Beautiful job man. You did that in 4 days. hats off to you and your crew!
I have had my Testo 550 for two years now and it is working great. I would like to try out the Digi's but I dont think they will give you a trial run will they?

Copper and Natural Gas is a No No. Please look into your service company replacing this with the correct piping.
Agreed.
I had a boiler on friday so sooted up and it didnt have a roll out in it. The HX was full and cracked . The flue was BLACK and still clear .
You should definitely get involved in your...
You know, its not normal but its not hurting anything. I get more aggrevated when I see unions inside the cabinet or a gas cock located 20' from the unit or none at all on fairly new installs.
Even though i have not read anything for lennox to dispute the larger is better concept, With Comfortmaker, they actually state NOT to put anything larger than what the chart suggests. I was pretty...
Amana - American Standard - Carrier - Comfortmaker - Dukane - Frigidaire -Goodman - Hiel - Lennox - Rheem - Ruud - Tempstar - Trane -
In no particular order. These systems all have their cons...
Nice and neat. Is that a "T" on your condensate ? You plug it for seasonal clean out ? Is that trap deep enough for the static pressure on that unit?
Keep it up bud. You can't get better with out making mistakes. nice job.
Ahh the Jewett> Ive worked on a two door cooler for a Lab dept at a hospital. These units are thick.
Lennox is in the middle of the road for me as being servicable and maintenance friendly.
I like the Rheem condensers for service and maint.
I like the Comfortmaker & Goodman furnaces for...
I agree with Skipp. In this day of age its hard to know who you can trust to do the job right and if they cant then seek out the right answers.
Our shop is in the process of getting the guys NATE...
The Exhaust was 20' with 3 elbows. 3" pipe. 100k .
I thought about the restricting orfice but when i asked the tech support from ICP they told me this model does not have one.

I have one also, I will never go back.
My manifold pressure was @ 3.0 wc. No soot.
I did not put a level on it but i did install clear 1/2" tubing on the collector box to see the inducer suck the water out of the trap.

Well at least they didnt have to lay down to braze in the lines . I guess you would need a ladder to change the condenser fan motor.
Knew a welder that worked for himself and had a home shop and a box truck to do jobs on site. In St. Louis South county and North county Its mandatory to cage in the condensers. He did all of ours....
