Good one Bill.....thanks for a little chuckle!!! By the way, love your avatar photo....didn't know the Duke was an HVAC man!!!
By the way, my original post did say it was a condenser so you are not mistaken. I realized the mistake after I posted, but did not go back to change "condenser" to "evaporator" in that first post.
No worries at all....hope you are feeling better soon. Careful with that Vicodin stuff...known a few to get hooked on it.
Amen Gary!!! Wish you were in the Cary/Raleigh market!!
Yikes....calm down classical. No one is attacking you personally, just having a lively discussion. I appreciate all the comments here, even the ones I don't agree with. Bottom line, I wouldn't...
second opinion - Very interesting comment. Personally, I'd like to see Goodman take a position and enforce that position with their dealers. Seems that most of the pros on this site agree with my...
Gary - I agree with your interpretation, however, here is the specific item in the Goodman contract my contractor pointed to that they say allows for charge of diagnostic fees. They sent me a copy...
Anyone know of a good contractor in the Cary/Raleigh, NC area that can provide Goodcare warranty work without a diagnostic fee?
Outstanding!!! There is hope that I can find a local guy who is ethical and will do a good job. Thanks for the update!!
precision hvac - All very valid points!! I agree it would be MUCH easier to pay the fee and get the reimbursement that Goodman offered. A couple issues with this:
1. I don't like the idea of...
JarrodS - I think you are spot on. If the contractor tells you there is no "fee" or "out of pocket expense" I would get that in writing.
The more I think about it, I don't think it's likely the...
You are probably right. Maybe what happened is Goodman cut the warranty diagnostic labor allowance while at the same time started looking the other way as contractors make up the difference by...
Really the beef is with both. I don't think the contractor is justified to charge the fee based on the wording of the contract. However, Goodman is not enforcing their contractors to fulfill...
hvacvegas - I appreciate your inputs....seems quite a few contractors do operate this way, however, if you read the details of the Goodcare agreement very carefully and with an open mind I don't...
Very well said!! The Goodcare agreement states the following: "LABOR - We are responsible for furnishing servicing labor related to the replacement of Goodman parts at no cost to you in fulfillment...
In cases where there is a deductible on an extended warranty (like on a car), that deductible is clearly spelled out on the contract. In the case of Goodman's standard Goodcare agreement there is no...
Found the following Goodman dealer document:
http://johnstonesupply9.com/docs/GOODCARE%20BROCHURE%201009.pdf
On page 3 under "Service Rate Schedule", it states: "Reimbursements for labor,...
Agree 100%!!
Thanks Gary, I really appreciate your honest unbiased feedback. A few thoughts so far based on my research and feedback from you and others:
1. The Goodcare written T&C's are vague on...
Classical - Goodcare is a premium warranty. I don't have the original invoice in front of me, but I believe it cost me at least $extra for it when the system was installed. Also, for most products...
Gary - Appreciate your unbiased comments on this issue.
One of my concerns is if I change contractors to one that does not charge diagnostics for future warranty work, could I expect to get good...
Classical - So it seems diagnostic fee is contractor dependent, some charge some do not charge it and the manufacturer has no say in the matter? If true, I guess that's a question that needs to be...
Answer to both questions is yes (in fact took 2 days before they could get a tech out here and the unit is wide open with very easy access). I'm not leaving anything out (at least that I am aware of...
The Goodcare T&C's specifically states they cover travel. They do not specifically mention diagnostics, but the T&C's do say: "LABOR - We are responsible for furnishing servicing labor related to...
The diagnosis was the starter cap on the condenser motor, certainly quick and easy to figure out.
My 3 year old Goodman Heat Pump stopped working (problem was the starter cap). I purchased the 10 year parts and labor Goodcare warranty when the unit was installed. I had the same contractor that...
