There's a reason that the drip/dirt trap needs to be threaded. It is intended to be emptied periodically if needed.
Back in the day, humidity in the supplied gas (whether methane or coal gas) was...
And now that its installed, the owner has no money left to fix it and do it right.
Very nice. I've made hundreds of those for local suppliers. Trane's version is hard to get and quite expensive comparatively.
I usually end up punching out those internal traps. they get clogged too easily if the unit serves a restaurant.
Lol. That's awesome. Looks like you've got a regular contract presuming that they were paying for PM before.
My bad frostbite was on a nh4 evaporative condenser. I was checking the liquid level by wiping away the frost with my hands and watching where it reformed. I guess my hands was wet and the frost...
Cheap. They are soooooooo cheap

I ran into a situation the other day where another HVAC contactor told a builder what his cost on the furnace was. The part that chaps me is that he gave a price $150-200 below what he can actually...
That's awesome!!

Anyone want to see how much rust was blocking the elbow before the vertical section?

That's what that is! I was wondering who got on the roof and bent all the fins over in such a random pattern...
In case it doesn't show, we don't get much hail in my neck of the woods.

We get the filter shop to make custom sized filters for sites that have those little d1na units.

Roofers turning RTU traps straight up so they don't leak on the roof they're working on.

The first pic shows where the b vent (one piece so the I inspector could see it) wasn't even connected to the c vent. This has been an ongoing problem for longer than I care to imagine.

They also had the furnace replaced last year by the lowest bidder...

I cried a little when I saw this.

That phrase makes me giggle.
Concrete mix dust + moisture = ??
That's why I love my tubing pinch tool. Can replace those stub access fittings without pulling all the gas out.
They covered all the bases except inverted
I have never enjoyed servicing those units.
I find that if there is an oil reservoir (compressor, etc) attached to the piping being evacuated, it takes so much longer and the ultimate vacuum attainable is not as high. This is more true if the...
My YJ pump will do the same if I'm pulling the whole 7cfm through the pump with the inlet open to atmosphere.
Nothing wrong with your pump, just shifting a lot of air through your pump and the...
I don't believe I have ever charged vapor on anything bigger than fractional HP systems

None. I converted it to Lithium Polymer right away. $20 for two batteries that run the gauges for 24 hrs at a time and take one hr to charge.
Couldn't talk about it before, but I have left to go work for myself.
Give me a call sometime. It's been a while.
Stick with it. You'll find the problem and be better for it.
I worked on a cooler in the criminology department at a local university. The police were using it to hold some of the feet that kept washing up on the coastline. Still creeps me out even though they...
Get in touch with me I you want some info on the Yellow Jacket digitals. The data logging sold it for me.
Amazing how many people don't understand the need for vents, let alone the proper location of them.
Think mentos and diet coke. Pressure reduction along with a catalyst to promote bubble formation will allow the entrapped gasses to come out of solution.
Realizing that the pressures aren't what matter was the biggest revelation I made in my apprenticeship. The saturated temperatures and their relationship to the actual temperatures are what is really...
All my hair is intact. I'll call you soon to talk, DP
That's the most expensive condensate drain I've ever seen.
I assure you my underpants are fine and I still have all my hair.
I held the phone at arms length.
For a time they did. That was back when they were green.
Enough said.

We lost this job to another company. I wonder why they were so cheap?

Found a Carrier 48KHA with the usual panel hanging by one screw. Caught some nice footage of it as well.

Those Trane shafts are heavy!!
IIRC, they're 3" diameter solid steel and turned down to 1-7/16" on the end for the bearings. Won't be fun to change the shaft, assuming the fan wheels are okay...
Why not bring the ductwork through the bottom?

Does the condenser get rotted out from the flue gas? I usually see that when I come across a unit where the combustion gasses get trapped.

Is the suction and head pressure fairly constant?
