I am in the same situation. I moved to KY for a "Golden Opportunity" after a 17 year carreer with a company in Michigan. The owner was a smooth talker, but f'd me in the "A" with out "KY"!!

I use a coating of pam - seems to work well. Just make sure you heat the grill up nice and hot and brush off the grates when your ready to go again.
I like my Weber Performer. Inexpensive, gas lighter for the wood chunks, and smokes like crazy.
The only downfall it that you have to baby sit it to maintain the temps, but with a beer in one hand...
