Under that piece of crap pipe support on the discharge line between the two compressors maybe. Probably would have found it there but worth a shot.

what kind of equipment? Package, split?
Setup an RTU with an economizer with plenty of minimum OSA and a relief fan hooked to a vfd and static pressure sensor.

Nice...ever find the clip?
You can see this in the belts when the wrong program is chosen (although it has been running for 3 months as you said). Try a different program besides hvac and see what happens then check the...
ive done a couple but they were all custom uning honeywell 7400 components. You could go as simple as a mechanical bulb stat mounted outside. Whole house fan would give you a lot more volume most...
Basically clear any crap from oil out of regulator port, the old DB slides have the same thing happen to them. Turn the slide adjustment in and out and it clears any debris out of there.
3 seperate ports as well, think im becoming a fan.
Spam filter ;)
mmmmmmm daddy like.
How servicable are we talking about here (you have my attention :D ) Slides replaceable? Teardown manuals...?
sorry to hijack, why the choice of hanbell over copeland? we have four local copeland reps and their application engineers are great to deal with. 3rd retro this summer first two DB vert and now this...
HW sorry to contact you this way but if you could pls drop me an email

concerning a mcquay ALS and retroing in a couple copeland or hanbell screws.
we've got a couple at work one is covered with insulation and the other is bare. Made out of 12 and 10" aluminum pipe with 6 half inch flare fittings screwed on.
MAybe you should get some more training and experience before working on chillers. Guess it's harsh but who will they blame when it takes a turn south? If you just told them to hire a mechanical...
Also was wondering what constituted heavy residential :p . I have had a robinair 6cfm and two j/b platinum 7cfm in the past three years. Robinair seemed to be more of a workhorse to tell you the...
Also have to consider brackish water, HX would have to be constructed of 316L SS. When they look at the final price tag they may not be so apt to do it.
How do your controls look?
Think ABB recommends replacing those fans every 2 years as well, bad fan will take down the entire drive. My contracts I try to change them out at least every two especially on the critical stuff...
60 is too small 100 is too big
hanbell hc-17 looks promising
will probably end up going with the recips due to the fact they are on the shelf in town
Only thing is timeline, love the hitachi's and would have done it in a second if one was available, didnt check hanbell. Checked out bitzer though but havent ever seen them used in this app.
anyone try to retro a screw with a recip before? have a 70hp hartford that went down and am thinking of tandeming a couple copeland discus 35hp into it. repiping with help from reciprocating...
25yrs old? should have been in wall of pride.
You saying theres something wrong with my r22 bottle hooked up to a solenoid and LP controller?
MY guess is piping issue, hard to say w/o having complete scope of system though. Any p traps on that big line, if its really 45' you'd probably want two. Undersized lineset is a possibility although...
I guess if we wait three weeks we wont have to worry about it anymore.
So what your saying is your more likely to flash when you decrease your PD across metering device assuming a full column of liquid?
Better not be if you're working on it :)
you referring to flashing in liquid line or post txv btw? I'm assuming liquid line.
Whether Im working on a 4 ton split on a 400ton chiller the principles and the refrigeration cycles are the same. I'd rather trust the manual to tell you the truth. Check the manual next time you do...
You are wrong compare ambient conditions to capacity in any chiller manual.
Same if you decrease suction pressures you will lose capacity.
All comes back to volumetric efficency.
Stalagtites on...
Guys behind counter at supply house said a lot of people are buying it but that doesn't mean anything. Understand the situation but I only like to see oil and refrigerant in a system. If turbocor...
Check the minimum OSA standard in ashrae and have a balancer set the damper up to match that. 10" seems huge for minimum osa for a 4ton system.
How long is the lineset? Checked for pinches in the big line coming back to the unit. Where is the furnace in relation to the AC unit (10' above 20'below)?
I've used 1" prefilter material (low static drop) getting sprayed by misters to lower it on a chiller when the unloaders broke and went wide open before. 60psi drop. Would never mist directly onto...
Could have a couple plugged cap tubes as well, unit running when you took that pic?
Thats what I end up doing every year when it gets cold. First year it knocked the wheel out of balance and blew the motor. Wife was so enthused when I let her know the good news.
Trade work was the first thing that would have popped into my head. :D
This have an economizer on it? Seen the action on your RTU ecnomizers screwy from factory here and there. Amp draw on fan with doors closed would be helpful, humidity wouldn't cause it to freeze...
How's your water treatment? Checked the barrel? Strainer plugged, water pressures normal? EWT?
What was your oil pressure on startup, was the accumulator installed backwards possibly?
Good thing it was a DB vertical.
replace the POS Ti module with a kriwan then? Funny that the sensors in the motor are made by kriwan but D&B kept throwing in the TI Klixon protector.
Makes me jealous, havent got to sweat anything over 2" for a year. We don't often design buildings with the boilers outside unless its at the owners request. Pain to tune due to fluctuating ambient....
Honeywells are nice, same as square D. Install and proper wiring is critical (distance of load wiring, not running line and load in same conduit). Look up PWM (pulse width modulation) on the web to...
Not unless they have accumulated a lot of debris on them.
They come packaged and not installed because even the guys at the factory cant fight a spot i the crammed cases to install them.
If I had to guess I'd say it's a ductless split so both lines are insulated and that is conduit leading from the outdoor to the indoor unit. Why be this lazy especially with something as easy as a...
300psi on your high side??
with 78 degree outside air I wouldn't want to see anything higher then 245 psi or so. Seems a bit high like metering device isnt feeding enough.
What was your SH and SC...
Hmmm Tranes down and the blue oval is running balls out? Devils putting on his ice skates.
