Not knowing where you live in texas (profile empty) its hard to say if last year was hotter/colder than this year.

The AC only system has 3 or 4 strips. This was the system the contractor was reviewing.
The heat pump system has a 15kw heater option. I don't know if the emergency heat
is setup in 2 stages once...

One system is a heat pump.
One system isn't (straight AC)

Is one better than the other ?

The TH8320 thermostats I have can do 2 stages of heat. One contractor suggested reviewing the heater coils. The handler has a timed second stage.
