Yep, you need the upgraded replacement valves. Contact fieldpiece and they will ship some to you. It only takes a couple minutes to change them out.
In electrical shorts I always isolate those components if you suspect there causing the problem. Just unhook the wires and tape them off. You'll find out pretty quick if thats what it is.
