there are a lot of things here to look at insulation, air leaks, age of unit, age 0f h0use, weather stripping around doors etc.

I agree with been there. I think I might look at air mix ing in the return ie I mean attic air
probably a fresh air intake as fridgy states. Local coded will determine removal or not.

All of the ducting is underneath, insulation also. Critters tear up insulation. You can lay under one and feel the cool air falling on you.
If the unit is 18 years old wit5h the manufacturer rebates and tax incentives plus the enegery savings why not replace the unit.
soldering without removing schraders, not re-tightening schraders, or not tightening schrader valve caps. Vibration can sometimes cause things to loosen. Not often but it happens.
