With out a regulator to step down the pressure you could be as high as 2500 PSI straight out of the tank when full.

If the replacement board is the most recent version the thermostat has to have update 2.1 installed to allow them to communicate. They will not recognize each other without the update.

If the latest firmware update has not been downloaded to the thermostat I would try that next. I have yet to have an issue with an XL950 thermostat that wasn't solved by installing the latest update.

A control board in the TAM8 was updated and the current 950 stats were not compatible with that board.

I was told that they have a fix and that it just needed to be executed.

Same as what Dave here has said, I have never talked with our FSR outside of the training classes.

I wouldn't expect a restricted filter/drier in the outdoor unit due to his statement that the system works correctly in heat.

Its working in heat and in cool your liquid line temp is 5* below outdoor ambient I would lean towards a bad indoor TXV. You're stacking liquid refrigerant in the condensing unit and liquid line.

If the load came out to be between a 3.5 and 4 ton and was in my house I would go with the 4 ton system.

If your extended warranty is backed by the factory it may still be good provided that you can find another Tappan dealer in the area.

Use the grounding strap. The original one that I bought did not have this and a static discharge took out my temp sensors. The strap is to prevent this.
