Yes, because it operates at higher speeds it's more prone to
"issues" on a maginal network. N2 runs at 9600 whereas MS/TP
goes all the way up to 156k, although it is usually set around 38 to 56k....
The CCN converter box that comes with Network Service Tool has the software key built-in. I'm not sure if you have to have the box plugged in to install the program.
It depends on the condition of the wiring. N2 runs at a lower baud rate than the average MS/TP network. If all the wiring is in good shape and the physical network configuration is ok (no T taps,...
I got NST version 5 a few months ago and it works great!
I haven't had any problems running it on XP and it sure is nice
being able to use the USB interface.

I installed the kit mentioned in the service bulletin on a 30GTN
about six months ago and haven't had a problem since.
The kit is only about $100 and it's worth every penny!
Just a thought: the FX40 is limited to 100 devices or 1000 points, whichever comes first. I don't know what a MIG is or what it's doing in the network, but I have had odd problems like this come up...
THANKS!
Well, that's nice....
I just got back from the FX controller programming course and the instructor
said release 3.0 had the app with it.
I know it's not available on FX exchange.
Does anybody have experience with Triatek Lab controllers?
Here’s my problem:
I need to change the minimum airflow settings for several VAV-1000L
controllers in an existing project. I also...
I have some on order but I haven't got them yet.
I'm told the programming in the controller is very similar to the original VMA.
FX Tools 3.0 will include the builder express app to configure...
Does someone have a copy of the tech manual for Alerton's Microset II
sensors? I need to access field service mode to make some changes
but I don't have the tables that tell me what the values are....
Does anyone have this file in a PDF that they could send me?
My email address is in my profile.
Thanks in advance!!!!
Does anyone have Carrier's part number for the network service tool version V?
Thanks in advance!!
The FX40 is able to access a Trane Comm5 network. If the FX40 database doesn't have the plugins you can get them from echelon's website.
You can try using the USB adapter with LonSpec but it is not
officially supported. I have used it before and it does work with some
computers.
The only "supported" non-serial interface is the...
Once you configure your network connection on your computer open IE and type the
IP address of the platform in the address bar. If everything was set up right, you should see a screen asking you to...
Thanks Ausccn. That's what I was looking for.
Does anyone have a complete list of the old Flotronic controller
error codes?
Thanks in advance!!
I second that. I think the lit. on the P66 even says you must use a motor
with ball bearings.
Do you have any particular controller in mind? I have a bunch of FX07
preconfigured apps and quite a few mcr files I can send you.
I use a Dell Latitude ATG620. Extremely pleased with it - and it has a built in serial port!
gerizam60, if you add your email address to your profile I'll send you the login info.
Reaper, Please send me the mcr files also.
I'm working on designing pump rotation assemblies - If I
can look yours over it would be a great help.
THANKS!!!

I use a Sprint broadband card in my laptop. As long as you have a good signal, connection speed is about the same as DSL. I pay $70/month and have unlimited data usage.
For the VisionPro series, you have to buy the entire thermostat to get the base.
If you have an ABCS in your area you can buy JCI hardware and software through them.
I've bought pretty much all of my JCI software from the local ABCS- pricing is very resonable.
Member since 2002.
The quote is reasonable considering the amount of work that goes into the software front end. The person designing this front end is going to build it from the ground up, i.e. graphics design,...
Ausccn is right, if you want graphics they must be set up in Workspace. I can email you the ComfortView and UC manuals or you can download them from Carrier's website. Send me your email address and...
I use ComfortView 3.1 for all my Carrier controls work. I don't have access to the network service tool, so I can't comment on that in particular. However, using CV 3.1, I have been able to access...
I've got a Craftsman griplatch toolbox. I took the wheels off the bottom and secured it the the divider in the van. This one has ball bearings in the drawer rails so even after 4 years the drawers...
The full manual is the only one I've ever seen. I had it printed and bound just so I could read it the old fashioned way:)

esdd, If you get the patch from Carrier, would you mind emailing it to me?
My email address is in my profile. Thanks!
The Universal Controller is the most versatile and probably the most complex of the CCN controllers. Since you mention JCI, programming the Universal Controller is pretty close in complexity to...
lovecoldair and freonguy are right on the money, I agree with everything they said. I started out doing supermarket refrigeration work and then moved to hvac and then controls. Supermarket work...
referteacher is correct; this is an oil equalizer port. This port should have a copper cap brazed on it if this compresor is the only one in the circuit.
Better check your oil level after you fix...
Just a thought, what is the status of MS SQL Server during Windows start-up? From my experience, SQL needs to be running for CV to work.
I agree with ctrlguy, LON is the way to go. I've had some experience with JCI's controls and liked what I saw but it's not as user friendly as most LON products. Be careful with Alerton, in my area...
That is a possibility, but RS-485 networks are pretty tough. Do you have the site already set up on the laptop? It will make it easier to see how the network is layed out. First thing to check is...
I use Fluke's 87-V meter with a remote amp clamp. The 87-V has just about every feature you need including temperature. If you are going to work on VF drives the low pass filter in the AC volts range...
If you flip the compressor over and take off the base plate you can see the check valve. It has MPTs and just screws into the cast iron wall of the compressor body. I used a small punch to try moving...
I had a situation just like this, another tech went on the service call and found compressor oil level low. He got a couple of gallons of oil and hooked his oil pump the suction service valve on the...
Osiyo, you are correct. All current limiting is done by the actual hardware of the serial port. I was trying to point out that the drivers of certain programs can set the unused handshake pins high...
Current limiting is normally done through serial port hardware gates. What Ex-Man is talking about is the fact that XP keeps the serial port pins low when not in use. This is done with most laptops...
I'm not too familiar with the toughbook series, but I will say the Dell Latitude ATG notebook is a fantastic computer for control work. The screen really is viewable in sunlight and the entire...
That's good to know. Thanks for the new info, LMiller. I'll get one of these as a back up for my PCC-10 card.
Here is the Honeywell product bulletin regarding the USB to Lon interface.
This came out in 2006 so it might have changed since then.
For the record, I use Echelon's PCC-10 PCMCIA card.
