I should also note the old valve was a 36c and new one is 36h
Got a 95 Aaon unit with pilot tube and pilot runner under the main burners. Originally it would run for about 10 minutes and the burners would drop out for a minute and re-ignite, cutting out...
It's not a house. 2 circuit York RTU in a supermarket kitchen. The big MUA was running dry, dumping 110* air into the kitchen. Since the water was turned on for it, the kitchen has been at 72*. The...
Split meaning RA vs SA temp. 97* out door ambient. 78* RA. I was using the check and charge app it was matching up. Just surprised a split can be reduced to 12* from humidity. I actually found some...
Compared to 30%.
Will 55% indoor humidity and a dew point of approximately 66* with 78 dry bulb reduce a split?
Looks like the regular models are being phased out now?
This unit had been like that for 3 years! I had to rewire the AH, Condenser and put in a new thermostat, because the one there was missing some of the programming options.
Yes, went back today actually and did not install the TXV. Turns out the strips were coming on during the cooling cycle due to improper low voltage wiring. Thanks for the help guys much appreciated!
Sounds pretty dead on to what you're saying access max
Didn't even think about the heat strips being stuck on, I'll have to check that out before I install the new txv. That sounds like an interesting formula.
Could be , but I would think that would of been a problem right after installation 3 years ago. Home owner said it just started having the problem last year. Yes it has strip heat but I don't know...
I don't think the accumulator was frosting on this one but that makes me feel a little better about the diagnosis.
I was doing a check up today for a new customer who complained their system ran all last summer and would never shut off unless she turned it off. The unit is 2013 14 SEER Amana split heat pump with...
Wearing even a dust mask works pretty well believe it or not.
Installed a new 5mfd cap And wired the fan separately To it, now it runs like a top. Must of been a wiring issue, lesson learned.

Lol timebuilder. I'm gonna figure this out.

Actually though I probably should of been checking contactor voltage at the fan terminals but I was checking at the top lugs.

370vac which matches what the new motor wants. Condenser coil didn't look too bad. Refrigerant pressures were with in reason.

I'll have to check the lugs but even during over amping I check voltage at bottom and top of contractor was about 240

First time I fired it up I had both Browns on fan. Don't know if that changes anything. All help is appreciated thank you.

So I am trying to fix a unit for a buddy of mine. 4 ton resi spit system. The symptoms they described to me was the condenser will run for about 5 minutes then the condenser fan shuts off. So I...
I was working on a system today that was made up of two really old carrier furnaces with evap coils. But any way there was something in the mechanical room connected to the units called an Optimizer....
I've only been doing this about a year and a half and have noticed there are generally 2 types of techs; The guy who is really good at fixing units or is a really hard worker but lacks exceptional...
I think you're right Williams. I think it pulls air out of the house through the return, when the door is actuated for swamp mode. Makes sense now.

No the condenser is a separate unit. Its sitting about 10 ft away and is piped in.
Sent from my ADR6410LVW using Tapatalk 2
It has an actuating door to separate air flow depending on what you want to use.

No. Just gives you the option to use either or. Not many of these out here, first one I've seen, not that I've been in the field very long.

Check this out. It's a swamp cooler mixed with an evaporator and blower, also has an isolated condenser its hooked to, and a furnace inside the house. I was wondering what the fan is for though....
Usually when you bring something back to a supply house under warranty you're not allowed to keep it.
It was a clogged muffler supposedly. We usually use silfos 15.
Talked to the tech who finished the job, he said it was a clogged muffler. That's all I know.
lol... That's funny.
I'd assume the charge was weighed in through the low side. I'm guessing the unit filled up with refrigerant up to the point of the restriction. Now the compressor is full and has no where to pump to,...
Drier was replaced on the first comp change out. Only put in that much 22 because he weighed it in with the unit off and that's all it would take. I'm sure that's bad right? Probably slug the crap...
So you would basically remove enough refrigerant to where it would run long enough to locate the restriction?
Ok I'm not a veteran tech, still pretty much a green horn trying to learn all the time. But anyway.... The system originally had a new compressor put in, it ran fine for a couple days then started...
Would there be any way to test the TXV's in this situation?
Internal pressure relief
Has anybody ever heard of a restriction, stuck TXV or bad check valve not letting a compressor run for more than 2 seconds? It's a package heat pump with 2 TXV's. This is the second new compressor...
So what I'm gathering is the charging charts 20 years ago weren't as efficient as the ones today? Of course you would expect things to change over a 20 year period.
It was a fixed metering device. I mainly do duct cleaning (yay), help with installs and change parts, green horn work you know, once in a while they throw me a check up. Thanks for the info guys.
Don't quite understand the subcool side of the app. The first question it asks is required subcool. How do I know what that is? That's what I want it to tell me!
Cool, got the app. Guess I need a pyschrometer.
what's a good app I can download?
You'd probably have to add quite a bit of R22 (too expensive to play with at this point, lol) to bring a 40 degree SH down to close to 10 wouldn't you? And that wouldn't throw your pressures too far...
OK so I have been in the field now for about a year, and prior to this I did some schooling. Now from what I always read, the "rule of thumb" for super heat is 10 degrees or 8-12 yada yada. But when...
Thought maybe it had to do with being more of a fire hazard being in an attic, the furnace is more out of sight and maybe would take longer to set off smoke detectors being above the living space...
OK it's a time delay fuse.... I read about what they are for....just seems like they are in attics but not so much in garage or closet installations, maybe I'm wrong though.
