when the thermostat boots up do you configure it to what type of system you have?

Will the Prestige Comfort 2.0 work with a standard one stage AC and heat found in most homes? I see it says 3 Cool and 2 stage heat.

Well I fixed it. The fan motor had a cap taped up hidden in a box that had popped. Hooked that to my brand new 60/7.5 split cap and everything is good.

cap was shot, replaced it and so far so good.

Well I just came home and it quit again. Fan was spinning but compressor was not running. Where to look now?

My uncle came over and added a hard start kit. We are also going to replace the run capacitor next week.

OK So the tech came about a month ago and said the coil was dirty and it needed to be cleaned. I let him clean it and the system ran fine for about a month now and it just did the same thing again....

Tech was here today, said the coil in the attic is very dirty and needs to be cleaned for a fee of $.

I guess a better question I have is why did the unit quit, and then turn the thermostat to off then back on fix it?

If it helps I do not think the compressor was running. Just the fan. Do these units have some sort of overload protection on the compressor?

I dont know how to tell. The lines on the back of the unit that are normally moist when working properly were not. The fan WAS running.
