Whatever it takes to maintain proper head pressure, sub-cooling and condenser TD. The water valve knows what it needs and will self adjust under most conditions.

I use these all the time and leave them on. If you torque them down in a pattern like you would head bolts on a car, then they will never leak.

You don't cut off the evaporator end. Only the drier end so it saves having to empty out the unit, remove the shelves, fans, shroud, t-stat etc. It just gives you another option.

That's what the lead wire is for. It comes in various sizes for different cap tube inside diameters. The oil forces the 1/2" long piece of lead through the cap tube under 2000 psi so it scrapes away...

If you do a lot of cap tubes like I do, then it's worth it. Although I don't use it all the time, when I do need it its a nice tool to have around.

It's basically a hydraulic pump that forces a small piece of lead through the cap tube forcing out any blockage safely into the evaporator. Thermal Engineering makes one.

Always recover the old refrigerant. Drop in replacements are not meant to be blended in.

If you plan on checking the high side, don't forget to prefill that hose with liquid before you zero your scale. Otherwise you may take too much refrigerant with you when you disconnect the hose. Or...

Charging by amps doesn't work with these small critically charged systems. By the time you put enough gas in it to noticeably affect the amp draw, you are already overcharged.

That's a 1/3 hp 134a compressor but you probably already know that.
