have the coil cleaned or at least the typre you sray on from a can and let it run off with the condensate

sounds like it may be pulatants with an oil resadue

how is it vented? May be tripping on presure switch
flame senser may need to be cleaned often if the gas isnt burning properly

water flo is important
if the new pump is 600 gph you may need to up size the intake piping to it and upsize the outlet piping
you realy need to find the exact water flo you need to run the unit...

with the 20i unit you need the trane zone panel and proper stats for that panel

any other zone panel will not work well and or stage the unit properly

trane also to the best of my knowlege...

i have done many unit on log beach island that went under decks and walkways
some only had 12ins of clearance
i would put a full size square elbow on the top of then to shoot the discharge air out...

have your friend juice it up for another six weeks and maybe you will be able to find a job and be able to replace the unit before to long

capacitors dont always look bad they always need to be tested to be sure they have the proper rating

back in the day it was not uncomon to find a unit on a roof or in sun on a 100 degree day to run at 350 or so
check it when it cools dow if it ever does
