Oil traps have nothing to do with how long the pipe run is, it's to do with the height of the riser.. If the riser is 15' or more you need a p-trap to aid in oil return up the riser...

Nope not a ptac. Any standard heat pump tstat will work for you. It's best to have a professional install this for you .. Looks like that coil could use a good cleaning as well!
