How do you figure? You mean that running my pump for 10 minutes and getting 100 microns is better than running it for 45 minutes and getting 500 microns? I have to disagree....

I could repeat myself, but that would be foolish!
500 Microns is how you pull a vacuum, a GOOD tech should know this basic knowledge...
do you have coil voltage at the compressor contactor?

God only knows whats going on there, Some compressor just break internally and seize up.. If its not out on overload replace the compressor..
Ya most of those old green carriers are internally trapped.. Usually there's a sticker, but if faded stick ya finger in there like karl k suggested is the best way to tell...

275 microns is not a good vacuum, if that is all you could get down to keep leak checking...

long story short, Feel the top of the compressor.. If its smoking hot its out on overload.. Leave it off overnight, start it up in the morning. If you have 460v on every combo going into the...

Shoot some nitrogen in that sucker and bubble everything.. If he is having to add refrigerant every so often, i suspect finding that leak will not be an all day event.
