Thanks for the information. Will adding a fresh air on return side help any?
Is this an incorrect assumption: Regarding dust entering home via AC system, is it more likely to be on the return side since the supply side is pressured for supply to rooms?
Trying to help son...
Thanks, 3 is not possible unless it is moved in a closet and I think that would make the room hotter.
Scenario is a 2 story condo. The main return air is located in kitchen, and runs straight up. In the attic, is the Furnace and coil.
On the second floor is a bedroom right at the top of this...
Thanks for the clarification.
There is plenty of room to work, did not know that spray was available option?
Thanks for your thoughts, will get quotes.
Older 60"s home. Definately need to have the attic insulated and metal round duct work re-sealed and wrapped.
Hence the question: would it be better to keep the old and have it re-sealed and...
Thanks for your help and suggestions. At this point, the old batt insulation is the only thing ther, not much. That is why I was wanting to address the ac issues so we would not have to mess up any...
Thanks, you have pretty much hit the nail on the head as far as the attic description.
I am talking about dust that accumilates on furniture, dont see any on the registers.
Would a simple fix be the installation of a media filter and forget the return air one? rather than trying to figure out how to seal the return air chamber?
Would it be a correct assumption that dust in a home coming from an ac system, made of metal ducting, would stand a greater chance of entering the sytem before the air handler, than afterwards iin...
Where do you draw the line in installing/recommending the 2 stage? Customer request to save money? Old uninsulated home versus new tighter home?
Or because of their efficiency you recommend...
Nothing hidden here, it was just a question. Just wanted to know if there was any reason or should the supply plenum be balanced with equal sizes on each side.
Thanks for all of the...
Sorry when I say balance I me equal number of same size ducts on each side. In other words you wouldnt want 4 8 inch on one side and 3 6 on the other, so to speak.
I did not ask if I had an issue, I asked if a plenum should be balanced. I am not asking how to do anything.
While up in the attic doing my monthly check of my water heaters I was looking at my 2 ac units and noticed one had more large supply lines on one side while the other appeared to be better balanced....
Thanks Keith for another angle to this question!
Again thanks for the input, understand and agree!
THanks older 60's home so I am sure you are right. AC added long after home was built because this home had the Gas heaters in the bathrooms.
Thanks for your response!
I have read several times here warnings from pros telling us layman that upsizing may not be an option because the ductwork may not be able to handle the new higher cfm unit.
So here is my...
