What is the general consensus on the stand alone air purifier hardware? Can they really clean the air for the room they are located in (assuming you buy one that is rated for the sq/ft of the room)?

Any tips on how to remove this butyl backed tape. When the pipe is hot its a gooey mess. I suspect that it will be easier to remove first thing in the morning when the pipe is cold (maybe 35 degrees).

I have a GEM 42 and I'm a bit confused about its operation. When reading the manual and also the Heat&Glo website FAQ it seems like the IPI should turn the pilot off when the fireplace is not in use....
