reworked a unit similar to that, on top of a casting plant, trane recommended changing both, doesn't look to be the case there, newer compressor on left has vibration bracket welded atop it ,dud on...

@rmitch78 manufacturers are pulling anything off their equipment (and expect you to install at your cost if needed)that will save a dime. doesn't mean a site glass is 'tha devil'
Sounds like the 2nd heatchamber( looks like a finned coil ) is stopped up with lint or dirt, reduces airflow, causes excesive heat, but what do i know im just armchairing here :)

Yeah problems with Tranes of all sizes, crappy material used to make the exchanger.
I dont think you'll go wrong with either, i use F.P. and Fluke, also recently purchased a Klein mm2000 ,seems to be an ok meter (my fluke 110 was getting alittle worn, sick of fooling with the broken...
Armaflex will cover that leak for you hehe
