i wouldnt worry about the noise after seeing the pic. I doubt they flushed the lines out so you will be getting a compressor pretty soon.

you arent gonna get rid of the noise even if it sat on a box,but atleast it could only pull air out of the living area,yes i would be concerned about the damp air and everthing else including germs...
