Yes, you could probably replace the outdoor unit and be fine but maybe not very efficient. If I was you I would go for a all new system with 410a refrigerant. R22 is slowly being phased out and soon...

Mitsubishi mini splits are very good systems. You will like them...they are very very quiet. Installed one awhile back and to see if the indoor or outdoor units were running had to feel the air...

I've installed many of the mitsubishi mini split heat pumps and they are good systems...but probably cost more than you would like to pay...there are other brands out there with similar systems...

I think its best to adjust the superheat when the system is close to design temperature...letting it run for awhile..

I think the one I use most of the time is the hilti te 72...its nice:D

I have used hilti drills many times...we have several at the shop and they always get the job done...very nice tools! :)
