Yeah....So I have heard. Still waiting
Been awhile waiting on the Pro upgrade. Guess everyone is out working.
Bringing the boiler up to temp before allowing that water to exit. This is a pulse supply where the flow is started and stopped and the burner runs continuously until the aquastat set point is made...
DWH?...
Looks like a Logomatic. Is it cheaper than the logomatic?.
Lets hear more about these three stats.
You win for the explanation of the purge cycle but what if you don't have a DHW tank?. Remember.... no waste (by design) and $. limit on parts. :)
Where the heck are you guys working where you have to look for cameras? Damn!
Nice!. Thanks for letting me know that.
By the way... Nice avatar :)
Not being cocky. Or at least... not meaning to be
The rest of you are just as funny... HAHAHA
LOL!~I scared the cat half to death with the snarf I made when I read this :grin2: Beer all over the floor...which I have to clean up now :gah:
Modulate the out going water at a set temp (lets...
Being a newcomer here (and already being warned) I am wondering why so many people are answering or attempting to educate a poster that obviously doesnt know anything about a boiler.... be it...
49 views and still nothing?. I assume that you are checking it twice and seeing what is naughty or nice?. :)
Ditto. I waited a long time but then again I never wanted to do this. Then the kids started growing up and there I was in NY.
I did the three year 250+ number easily and ever since I have only...
Hey!... like Maine?. I am headed to Bangor to start another shop on my way out. I could use an x-tra hand :)
You work commercial and dont know this?. not trying to be a nudge but the forum is tech to tech and you sound like your not a tech.
Yes I am ...not my task... the task
And ... Am I?
(obviously not talking modulating fire rate)
Here is the scenario.... you have to make this boiler modulate and purge (to at least 100 degrees or less)for under $.
The boiler pictured has a cold start control from the factory. GO!

That is a given but I am looking for some opinion based on experience and theory. A discussion with merit in other words.
LOL! ... I wasn't drinking when I wrote that title either! :grin2: Speed typing with two fingers has it's down side
I dont know as I am ready to put everything I know on the subject out there...
I may be mistaken but I believe that the family lives up around millinocket. I was looking to move there a few years ago (to start a business) and this was the family that the mayor told me made...
I think you are being unrealistic and unless you are going to work for a company till your 60 (before trying this idea) you wont have the background to risk a start up. Think about it... you start...

Here is the high side version.
Depends on your design, as to what you run. I dont like the blast furnace effect from kicks. When I do use them it's for cold spots, not area's. Toe heater...
I was thinking that there was one pump and then zone valves. If it is all pumps then it is still wrong although it isn't as bad as it would be with valves. The entire system can be run with one pump...
I mean a distribution box in the attic. The main run ties into the box and then the supply runs to the rooms come off that box. construction of the distribution box is the same as if it were tied to...
Good point and I did this once but the guy had money to no end and had a custom built corner cabinet placed around it floor to ceiling. Looked trick but wow the expense. Generally if I have to do...
I installed a number of these in hydroair applications in NY, ME and a few in OH
IMO, this is the only way to go if you have a water heater that is sized properly or are willing to put in that water...
Yes, if you can get the proper CFM required for the application. Homes I have done this in generally require a 14" round but in those cases where I couldn't do it with that I would use rectangular...
I really thought about this and to be honest, I cant remember a situation where I ever did or would have done this. It generally comes down to price of the job and it's always easier to lose some...
I always did 2 brands under the theory that if you couldn't afford the best then you were looking for cheap. Boilers were Buderus and Utica. Air conditioners were Ducane and American Standard....
I am looking at this region and this is a good heads up for me. We use these all the time in the northeast on oil. A good thing to stay away from IMO unless you are the one doing the service work. So...
It was a fun read up to page nine and although I am very sure it gets better... There are better threads for me to actually learn something from or help someone with, perhaps. IMO this was a gag...

Here is what it should look like if you want everything to work. Is this how it is put together?.
(opps!) in my haste to draw this out, I brought the kick heaters return in front of the...

Cant find the option to delete a post so guess I am working on my post count now :grin2:
If the problem is in the system (aside from air) I wouldn't be able to tell you for sure where to start because the drawing is pretty poor.
I can only assume what is where and by what I am...
Blame it on the state. In a well regulated state you wouldn't be able to purchase this stuff without a license. Sounds like you folks need to get together and lobby for restrictive trade practices....
I remember getting a bit flustered when getting stuck on the job but never panic. I will tell you when I did panic and that was over 30 years ago on the opening day of bow season. Totally dark and I...
It would be a bit over $18K if it were me.
I have seen MA ads for sure but who wants to work to hand it over to the common wealth?. Thats why I left NY
I know I didnt ask for anything other than strong holds so thanks... If it comes down to...
Thanks for the reply. Will do.
Thanks for the heads up :)
Thats funny because I used to say the same thing. I can work on the 80% furnaces but when it comes to the high eff. I can only say that I am able to do 80% of the diagnostics on a professional level.
I would not have guessed it.
I spent my years working in Maine and NY before the pipe lines started getting crazy. Today Maine has a huge line running all the way to Bangor and the northern region...
Well I guess it's the fact that I am top of my game in oil, based on the fact that I have spent my life doing it. It's not the money so much as the fact that if you don't know the trade that is...
That is true. I am working for a contractor in Enon valley currently but a lot of folks have gone and are going heat pump (ground source and air) and for whatever reason, they are seemingly unaware...
30 year veteran of the oil days looking to stay in it till the end. I came down into Ohio awhile back because the last big contractor (dealing with oil heat) couldn't find anyone qualified anymore....
