You have to remember that this chiller uses POE oil, with loves moisture. Its very easy for the oil, if left open to atmosphere to become contaiminated.

taking apart the pump is not all that difficult. My guess is that the main bushing (No bearings in the pump) is probalby gone. Look at the parts book to see if you can get individual parts instead...

consolidmech - I don't know where you got your information from, but there is no change to the bearings of a 19XR whether or not it has a vfd on it or not.

More than likely suspects to your problem:

1) Machine has been wet
or
2) Someone is using the wrong oil for the unit

These units are now getting installed in Alaska. And yes, it is derived from Carrier 19XR.
