In my area there is a monthly delivery charge for piped natural gas. Not so with oil that is delivered to your house. With oil, its not written up in the bill.Quote:

Your area may be different. The costs are broken down. They do have to maintain the piping on occasion.
Overall gas is cheaper than oil here but natural gas has never been very common here except in cities due to the rocky soil in N.H.
I think the less of a monopoly the utilities have, the lower the prices are.
