It is the nature of the beast and has been proven time and time again that anything government gets involved in is going to cost more. There are just too many ways for corruption to run rampant when government entities have control.
We need to get the government out of all of our regular business, stop funneling so much money into the government, let private industry that screws up fail and get the money being wasted by the government back into the private sector.
Fair enough. But how do we do it without riots in the streets? How do we go from reducing the subsidies (tax breaks the poor get from the government) employers rely on to get cheap labor? And would you give up your tax break you get for the interest on your mortgage? Or the tax breaks married people get? And child tax breaks? How would we start?
The federal government administers Medicare at about 2% where private industry does it for 14%. Social Security is also about 2% and private industry would never do it for that amount. There are just too many ways for corruption to run rampant when private entities have control. Private industry will manage to do it for more while paying people less. We lose both ways.
Tax breaks are always offset with taxation somewhere else that ultimately means more money from us in higher costs from those being taxed. The bottom line is that there is only so much money available overall and all money does better in the private sector.
How to start is indeed tricky. Yes, stop the tax incentives immediately along with cutting out nonproductive subsidies such as the entire NEA program and subsidies for all of these industries that have labor unions. If these companies cannot succeed because of the cost of labor, either let them fix their labor issue or go under.
Most of that 814 billion dollars that government got to spend went to bolstering entities that have been the cause of our problems in the first place. We just spent 814 billion dollars to support labor unions, banks and insurance companies; all who have failed miserably to conduct business in a productive way. And, despite all of the money given to these entities, every one of them laid off massive amount of workers in order to continue allowing the top dogs to make their massive amounts of money.
Obama comes in to power with the image of the saviour of the average Joe and all he has done is to put money into the hands of all of those wealthy folks who have helped him get elected and other wealthy folks he wants to be beholding to him in the future.
So, despite the claims of being for the average American, Obama has taken massive amounts of money from the average citizen and given it to the most wealthy who do not contribute to our economy.
There is no way that government can ever do anything as well or as inexpensively as private sector can do. If private sector is not able to run a program for less cost then the government can, it is because the government is either creating the higher costs or the private sector is more corrupt then the government, which cannot occur without the government helping the private sector be that corrupt.
There is no way you can defend government doing anything better or more economically then private sector as long as the government keeps its nose out of it.
