Reducing Compressor Noise
I had a Heat Pump installed a few months ago. Everyone tells me that the noises it makes are normal, so I am sure that I will come across as crazy... anyway...
1. When it turns on, if I am in my yard, the sound of the scroll compressor starting startles me. Is there some sort of device I can wire inline that will give me a "warning" before the compressor turns on? Perhaps this device can sound some low pitched tones for 10 seconds ahead of time... or perhaps start the fan first?
2. Even though I am told that the compressor sound is "normal", I am wondering if I can make it quieter for my neighbors. What are your thoughts on this (a 5 db sound reduction sounds good): < links to direct purchase sites are not allowed >
sound blankets work great
Have installed them on recip compressors too. They make a big difference.
