Anyone suffer from them?
I have been one of those unfortunate to be afflicted with this disabling and sometimes depressing nightmare.
This is the first time i have had the need of someone else's input. It was a personal thing i handle alone.
I try very, very hard not to allow my family to see the owful effect these cluster migrains have on me.
They come everyday at about the same time.
Starting with 'feeling' of pain in a usually numb area i call the hell marble, which is a hard thing to explain but feels just like a marble between my temple and the back of my eye. Can't touch it, just feel it.
Within 30 mins of this alarm i am in living hell and an epic battle with pain for two to four hours that cannot in any words be describe.
I have no more than 30 mins to get somewhere, where ever i might be to begin the battle.
I do not ask this question for sympathy!! Iv'e lived this hell since age 11.
I raised this question here, in this forum of my peers (brothers and sisters)of the trade only after my wife made the point of the continuity, and somewhat family atmosphire, even under dissagreement that exist's here.
I feel your pain....literally.
I have suffered from migraines for around 15 years.
Many times I have felt one coming on and headed for home, usually throwing up by the time I got home.
Diet and Imitrex have reduced the number and severity of the attacks.
I have had 2 in my lifetime. One woke me up at 2 a.m. about 10 yrs ago. I ended up in the ER on a gurney with the lights out after getting injections for the pain and nausea. I awoke with the second one a couple of years ago. Drove myself to the doctors office, squinting my eyes to keep the light out. Seems mine started with sinus problems, maybe sinus infections. I hope you are able to pinpoint what, if there is anything that is triggering them for you and are able to find relief. I have no idea how you are able to function on a day to day basis having them that often. Good luck to you!
I had terrible migranes for years including through my childhood. Doctors would try a little of this, a little of that, nothing worked. Finally I decided to break down and go to a Chiropractor. Not a cheap one either, find a damn good one. After 2 years of twice a week treatments we started cutting back on the visits. After several more things got better. I still have a migrane say once a month but that's better than daily. It was all due to a "cerivcal reversal"...due to a fall I had as a kid, splitting my head open on a park bench. No other doctor through my entire childhood could figure out that my neck curved in entirely the wrong direction and mom didn't want to pay for a specialist. Once I dished out the thousands I am now relatively pain free. I do still have to do neck exercises or the migranes come back with a vengance. There usually is a reason for them though it can be hard to find.
My step-dad has bad migranes due to low blood pressure.....there was a bad heart attack mixed in there too.
Yea I get em too. Though I think you got me on severity (sp). If I don't catch em early, vomiting and down in a dark silent room, no movement for a couple hours. I think I'm lucky, I can feel em coming on. When I do I take about 3 Excedrine (with caffene) along with a coke or mountain dew for some additional caffene. Caffene dialates blood vessels and really helps.
Had'em since I was about 10. First came the flashing then the headache and nausea. I think age has helped mine. Mostly what I get now they call occular migraine. Just see the flashes. Seldom get the headaches. Large doses of caffiene immediately may help. Another thing is that most large hospitals have a Headache Center. Findout if you are near one. They can do amazing things with chemicals now. Know people that have done that and are largly headache free.
Have had them for years including most of my family. Seems most come from a mixture of diet, stress and sinus problems. I have noticed most people east of the Mississippi have some sort of these problems.
I moved to the west coast to eliminate them, which for the most part has worked.
Keep chasing down doctors of all kinds until you can find one that can actually help and not keep you drugged up. I would get checked out by an allergist too. Watch you diet, eat light, watch your stress and how it affects you body. A lot of headaches of this nature can get set off by the blood vessels in the neck and brain shutting down from stress or allergies.
Best of luck.
I have had migrains every since I was little...then I use to cry myself to sleep. If I took medicine for it ,it would make me sick.Over the years I have learned to pretty much ignore them or at least put up with them and just go on working with them. Any more I just look at it like when I burn myself ,Its just there but will quit hurting eventally. I know thats not easy but I really dont get them very often anymore and if you keep a bottle of excedrine migraine handy and take them at the first sign of one coming on, it does help. Everyone has differant things that bring them on from what they eat, bright lights ,or stress. The one thing that mainly caused my headaches was what I ate. I would look at what ingrediants were in the food I ate before I got them. It was pretty easy to figure out after a couple of weeks and after that I would always watch what I ate. now I hardly ever get them . this may not be what is causing it for you but I would really look and see if you eat very much stuff with MONOSODIUM GLUTIMATE in it . Every since I figured out what causes it for me I have found a huge amout of other people that it does it to them. Its in about everything from chips to soups sauses you name it .This may sound pretty crazy , I know but if it solves your migaines its worth it. just look at what you ate evertime you get one and if that is whats causing it ,it wont take you long to avoid the types of food that have it in it. Anymore I can about take a bit of food and have a pretty good idea if it has it in it but once in a while it gets by me but not often anymore. depending on how much is in the food you ate it may show up the same day you eat it or from eating it the night before . so if you try avoiding it for a while and just see if thats whats causing it for you ......you never know that may be it. Do me a favor if it is ,let me know . I would be currious if that was it.....ok. GOOD LUCK
5-100mg Ibuprofen or 2 Extra Strength Advil for me.
I wish Ibuprofen or Excedrin would help.
I have had migraines that Darvocet and Percoset wouldn't touch.
