So who is Lucifer/Devil ???? (besides my ex-wife) :patriot:
Obama?
Nah, ElDiablo wouldn't need a teleprompter. :p
Age-old question. Answer depends on which religion you beleive. Not sure how one would actually go about IDing the guy....
Someone said, "There is a little devil in all of us". If one can accept that statement. then, I guess 'All of Us'
The devi aka satan was Gods favorite angle. Lucifer is his name. He became angry at God for extending his love to humans and sought to overthrow Him.
This caused a great war in heaven and the angle Michael expelled Lucifer from heaven andsent him to rule the underworld.
There is no Devil, there is only God when he is drunk.
The Bible-based answer, as I understand it, is this:
Satan was a powerful, favored angel. He was the musician, and was also called the Angel of Light. His name was Lucifer.
Note: angels are created beings, and are not the result of reproduction. Angels are not the spirits of dead humans. They are their own race, so to speak. We become more "like" them as spirits, but we do not "become them."
But I digress.
Lucifer thought that he was just as suited to rule creation as God was. It was an act of misplaced ego and arrogance. It is difficult to understand why this would happen, since our assumption is that Angels, being created as eternal beings, would know God and creation so well that this would not occur to them, however, we are taught that it did.
As soon as this thought happened, God knew it. For this reason, Lucifer was expelled from heaven and went to earth to mislead men. It is scripture that one third of the angels in heaven followed Lucifer. These former angels are referred to as "demons." We are not given more details about why that one third of angels followed Lucifer, or why this expulsion was appropriate. We simply have to trust the wisdom of God.
Since these emotions of arrogance and ego are something we share with the race of angels, we can also understand that this ousting of Lucifer made him angry, and therefore it is easy to understand why he is positioning himself in opposition to God. He is not the polar opposite to God in terms of power, just in philosophy.
For these reasons, he deceived Eve to engage in sin, and she in turn convinced Adam. Lucifer was punished by a transformation of his physical form, which probably made him more angry.
God takes what is evil and turns it to good, for His use. Most of the time, it is used to bring us closer to Him and to convict our hearts, and to prepare us to be with Him for an eternal reward. Unlike Satan, we can be forgiven. Again, we do not know if forgiveness was extended to Satan and it was rejected, or if his continuing attitude and actions make forgiveness for Satan an impossibility.
We do know this: Satan continues to attempt to lead us astray and separate us from God, as he has been. He is not always obvious in this plan. In fact, he is most effective when he acts in a manner that humans might consider to be: inclusive, compassionate, reasonable, logical, etc, because we are already familiar with these attitudes in a context of goodness, so, evil is easily hidden in these ideas. Satan argues in our hearts that God is wrong, not loving, and unworthy of our praise and worship, and exploits our limited understanding of God's plan in our lives.
If we follow God's word, we can immunize ourselves against Satan's influence. He has the greatest difficulty entering a heart that is full of God.
TB is correct according to Scripture. Matter of fact, Lucifer was the chief angel.
As per usual, acmanko has made his answer up. Been reading tea leaves again probably.
Lucifer had been cast out of God's presence before creation.
Jesus was the chief or favored angel, satan was certainly favored as well.
Satan made himself the devil when he purposely tried to lead mankind away from god to worship him,and its never ended, thats why there are so many false religions.
So back to the OP..... who is he?
