York vs. Trane, which one makes a better liquid screw chiller.
Trane definitely...but I'm a little biased.

Air or water cooled? What tonnage range?
TRANE!!!
Ford!!!
the Flugger Valve Company dabbled in screw machines YEARS ago but they made them too good...never did fail and no replacement parts were neccessary so they stopped making them. too bad really. I would love to have had the opportunity to rebuild just one of them. all of them are still running today from what I hear.
My vote for the Edsel:eek2:
Why are Carrier chillers overlooked when these questions come up. Kinda like the fat kid that gets picks last at a dodgeball game.
All the big companys make screw Chillers and all have good and bad issues just a matter of which ones you want to deal with the most. JMHO
?
I'm bias too. Carriers problem is getting salesmen with a clue.
Sell it to be installed correctly and get trouble free operation. A 30HXC with pump control, condenser water bypass valve controlled by machine, 3-6 gallons of water volume per ton, cooler flow 2.4 GPM per ton, and condenser flow 3.0 GPM per ton will be trouble free. Install the machine under the old sequence of operation design and Carrier gets a bad reputation.
Now is the best time for them like buying a new car model that's been out for years the bugs have been worked out. Or new this year 30XW has the same design with a larger quieter compressor with a beefed up slide valve design for capacity control.
