What HVAC thing was/is it?
How long was/is the warranty?
How long until the first failure that was covered under warranty?

No idea what you mean.
OK, 10 yrs and 0 failures within 9 yrs. for an American Standard. From my data 12% of "HVAC units" have already been replaced within this period, for any number of reasons.
If I get enough responses that call out the brand I may be able to guesstimate brand reliability as reported on this forum, not just general warranty performance.
Do I need rum to understand the question?
What kind of rum?
Any accessories installed with the rum? Coke? Fruit Juice? Ice? Umbrella?
Some furnaces never break, some i think are set on an old indian burial ground that jinxes um.
On such short notice, besides Coke, this is all I could come up with

-Lennox G-14 Pulse. Installed 1983
-Lifetime HX warranty-Do not remember original parts warranty. Didn't need it
-No failures to date, including HX-with exception of occasional air flapper replacement during annual maintenance
-HX pressure tested annually since about 1998
Purrs like a kitten!
At least Consumer's uses real statisticians, so that is sort of a compliment.:)

Not really.
They aren't anywhere close.
So yours will probably be less accurate.
