Anyone know the reason why the capacitor bulges? I had to replace one on a rooftop recently.
Also can I use a 440v rated voltage rather than a 370v on a Capacitor? If the unit's voltage is 208-230v

Low voltage is a huge culprit. Yes you can use a 440v rated cap instead of a 370v.
If you are in the biz,you should know these things .
It bulged because the smoke tried to get out of it and couldn't because it was a sealed unit.
a buldging run cap is my favorite service call 30 mins and your a hero
did a couple last week, keep those turbo 200 univ cap on the truck. They cost more but you save a trip out and back.
