...existing humidifier will need to be moved....no room on supply trunk......is it possible to place the humidifier on the return plenum....close to the furnace ?
yes in most cases
what model humidifier do you have?
Your April Aire will be just fine.
Model # 550:cool:
I had it tied into the supply plenum....
but now ....witht he cased coil.....no room.....So it will be placed on the Return plenum....
Should I get the same results ?
This April aire .....also has a 6" takeoff ...on the side....that would normally go to the return......
I........... will probably have to cap that off......
:confused::confused:
No... you don't want to cap it off, you have to pull heated air through the water panel.
Here is a link to all of Aprilaire's Manuals:

O.K.
I took a look at the manuals....
.......... IF...I attach the Aprilaire..mod #550
to the return plenu.....then off of the
6" collar...
take a 6" 90 26 g.
bring a short piece of flex to the supply plenum....will this work :confused:
The manuals ...did not really get into installation Options...
Yeah that should work fine... all you have to do is pass air off the plenum through the water panel in order to make it work. You should also put a damper in your flex line off the plenum so you can close it off in the summertime and not recirculate your a/c back into the return drop.
