I guess every knows that the Inducer Fan Motor is giving him a problem right now and it needs to be replaced with a new OEM motor.
But that is not a complete repair. Again this unit has a major issue per the Trane Service Bulletin which specifically address a complete upgrade to prevent total malfunction of ALL the controls and related switches and contactors.
Its not a big deal but if the upgrade has not been performed it is certain that he will have major problems with the remaining controls when the motor fails. There are no safety's in place which will prevent this failure and its highly possible that a fire can develop with in the controls cabinet.
So.....The kit is available which is to alter the existing control sequence of the inducer fan motor. It includes wire harness and isolation contactor for HI and LO speeds.
To understand it better he will have to read the service bulletin. I have one somewhere but for now here is the repair kit Lit No. which he needs to get for the repair.

Troubleshooting is not part of the repair...understand the symptoms and you will find a solution.
hey the problem was the inducer motor, high speed switch was stuck closed.ended up also replacing the control board cause the relay on it had burn marks just like 2sac said,replaced it to avoid future service calls.unit is running like a champ.one question cause im new to this site.WHAT bullitin and where? some of u guys keep saying about bullitins and that they expired...where can i see them?on this site?thanks

I had to replace three combustion blower assemblies in the last two months. The motors were shorted and running all the time. Another Tech just replaced one the other day at one of my accounts and none of them came with a wire harness and isolation contactor for HI and LO speeds. I was at Trane today and asked them about the service bulletin, they gave me a copy of it but didn't want to talk about it. I asked if they would replace the motors under warranty and he said I could try to. I asked why the new motors didn't come with the wire harness and isolation contactor and he said you have to ask for it. But if you didn't know about the service bulletin they weren't going to tell you.
I got copy of bulletin I could post if anyone wants it. Or should this be done in pro forum?

I know this Is an old thread but can someone Email me the service bulletins you guys are talking about for the YCD units?
I just finished cleaning up a 460v transformer mess on a YCD and found two more units on the roof that had Inducers running with no call for heat. Both units IGN boards had burnt contacts visible through the clear relay. I would have never thought about the IDM wires shorting together and causing the motor to continue to run.

Start a thread in the pro commercial forum and call it "Trane inducer bulletin?" and someone will post it.
The expiration of a bulletin means you get no free motor, no free kit.
It means Trane expects the customer to now eat the cost of their defective parts.
