Not our most experienced technician. Ah well... We all have to learn some way I suppose. On my way (hour drive) to go bail him out and fix it, should be arriving around 5pm pacific time. Just when I finished my last appt on this mild June day.

Niiiice!
And that is why you do not use a coil as target baskstop :D
OOps, my hand slipped.....
Man this client is pissed. Tech feels terrible. I'm happy the micron gauge is telling me its alllllmost time to go home.
About a year ago one of our techs forgot he left his fieldpiece multimeter on top of a condenser, went inside to call for cooling, comes back out to find that one of his test leads had wrapped around the blade - the momentum made the detachable tip turn into a projectile - and in a one in a million shot, pierced one of the veins in the middle of the coil. I wish I had a pic of that, aftermath. Damn.
That can be fixed.
Carrier RTUs are known for rubbing through the TOP of the coil.
Pry back the fins and build up some 15%.
That can be fixed with some 15% ( Have you seen the price of that stuff?!?!?) Just sucks if its a new piece of equipment and the customers knows about it. If i was paying for new equimpment Id be telling them to get me a new one. Lucky this customer doesn't sound like a piece of work like me
Reminds me of the time I fried the board on a brand new furnace I put in lol. Hooked up high voltage to low volt side lol. Sounds dumb I know but the had stat wires run out of the side of the panel that covers the board, it was size 14 wire and i hooked on to that without looking under the panel. Turned on breaker and pop. Never did that again.
Sounds like my kind of friday
Super easy fix, thats awesome that you took time to bail him out, he will never forget that!
Yeah, easy fix but somebody's got to pay for the refrigerant and time.
