In 35 yrs of service and training new techs, every few yrs I get talked into trying a battery leak detector the last one being the fieldpiece srl2. In 30 yrs of being a service tech I have left the H10 and have been spanked into submission several times (by young whooper-snapper tech's) and then tried the next new gun on the block! I just purchased a new H10PM again for the third time now after flunking with 3 other types. A Bacharach informer II did a superb job with a fitting leak, the borrowed H10PM did blow it out of the water on a R410A Formicary or Champagne leak of the tubing itself so I gave in and went and bought a new H10PM. I have proven to myself even in a saturated room of Freon that the H10PM "will" find the leak period!
I've had a Bacharach Informant II for a few months now, have used it several times (for refrigerant only, no experience with the natural gas setting). So far I've got nothing but good things to say about it. The thing is great, and MADE IN THE U.S.A which is a rarity for tools of this sort nowadays. I've used an H-10 at the schoolhouse, and it works great as well. I'm a believer in quality tools all the way, but "best" is a tricky term to use as a blanket. It really all depends on personal experience and preference, as long as you buy of a reputable quality anyway.
Bacharach lies about the "made in the USA" thing, I've taken apart many of their alleged American made tools and found nothing but foreign components inside them, its a matter of time before another company file a complain with the government about, similar to what happened with Leatherman tools, is illegal to write "made in USA" on a big pile of Chinese crap. :.02:Quote:

Probably can't source a lot of these semiconductors in the states even if you tried. I'm sure they're assembled here, though. Hopefully it at least puts someone here to work for the day rather than outsourcing the whole process.
