Cap tube ?
I changed a compressor saturday and purged N2 prior ro replacement and cap tube was open. After replacement of compressor and drier and evac. Charge system and start. Low site in vacume and side 80 psi. remove charge and purge with N2. found cap tube resticted. I cutcap tube back several times and this thing was pluged solid. The restricting stuff looked like some kind of lime deposit.
Did I do something wrong?
Unit. TRUE Prep table
What took out the first compressor?
That powder is a result of a reaction in the system (contaminants) and neither a strainer or filter will trap it.
you most likely will need to replace the entire system with virgin components, or consider a TXV conversion, as its less prone to this type of restriction.
Or it might be more economic, to replace the case.
this write-up by supco is pretty good,, http://www.supco.com/images/pdfs/Man...g%20Manual.pdf
Did you cut or torch old filter. Is that 80 on the high side?
