coil stats ?
working on turbo air reach in cooler. unit had two issues, one was a leak which i fixed.. While testing the unit, i found it would pull down to around 25 degrees and wouldn't satisfy..
so i put a new stat on it, i dont like coil stats and would much rather have a air stat, but i doos as i told, it was a ranco a21 i think, but dont quote me on that, it was still doing the same thing.
i had to get out of there as it was getting really busy, last temp i had was 26 and still running.
i use a ranco a12-1560 used them for years no problems
thats what it was

The A12-1560 has a mid-range or "normal off" of about 24ºF, which would be around #4 or #5 on the dial. Remember, the higher the number, the colder the cut-out temp.
Here's an old thread on constant cut-in controls:
I realize this is an old thread, but its one of the more informative on the subject. Where in the coil would be most preferable for the bulb of the cut in control. And also, with the other differences you mentioned, the physical characteristics of the control like Cap tube length and design. Some are coiled as others are just straight cap tube.
As determined by design engineer. Unit is designed to operate as intended only when the correct cold control is installed in the location chosen by the designer. Cold controls are an indirect means of control, so the box will behave unpredictably when you start messing with the location or type of bulb.
