hey guys im new here and today was my first day of HVAC skool. The rule of thumb says to use a size bigger wire ??? does that mean thicker wire or thinner????????
i know that the smaller the number than the thicker the wire. can you guys help me out? thanks
Yes the smaller the number the more conductive material there is in the wire. The more conductive material in the wire the more current it can safely carry.
And being the I am a grouchy old bas+ard let me say, "don't start in the middle of a situation" Where did you come up with this rule of thumb. In what context is this rule used.

Let the plumbers run all the drain lines ... and hook em up.
Let the fitters run all the piping in copper. Let all the tinners run the ductwork.
You just focus on diagnosis and repairs. Dont sweat the small stuff. And wire is all small stuff. :)

2. All the wrong slope and traps in thew wrong locations.
3. They can fight with the others..
AND lastly you can go back and fix their mastakes.....
