Hate to be the first one to chime in, and with a negative vote, but I've found that the NAE is painful to use with LON. The NAE requires preloading of certain controller-specific files before it will find points, and seems to need a lot more network-specific values properly entered before it will "auto-discover" controllers on the LON trunk. If you don't have everything it asks for, you'll see nothing.
Admittedly, we haven't tried Trane LON stuff, but we've tried SmartControls (which we could never get to work, and ending swapping out for N2 product), and Circon (which was very time-consuming and painful, but ultimately worked).
I've done several NAE/LON jobs. If you have the .xif for the product you are installing, autodiscover works. I've done Trane chillers and RTU's. Make sure you add the .xif as the resource file and your good to go. Get the NAE pdf which explains all of the details. You are required to add the NAE as a node on the LON network.
the .xif file
Do I get that from Trane or JCI?
Go to lonmark.org for .xif files.
Or you should be able to use the JCI Node Utility to extract the .xif file, although I have never had the need to do so myself.
Used the JCI node utility today to extract an .XIF file from a
Carrier 30 HX chiller. Fast and simple.
Mapped as a resource file on the lon bus and auto discovered all the points.
It's actually Echelon's NodeUtil, JCI doesn't make a node utility... you can download it from Echelon's web site. It's not supported and the new Turbo LNS breaks the LDV32.dll if your going to use the 852 driver. It still works if you put the old LDV32.dll in the nodeutil folder though...
