I was kinda disappointed. Never been to one and will probably never go again. Alot of the big automation players were not there. Did get to bs with some old co-workers. I dunno I guess I was expecting more, I'm not sure what but it just didn't happen for me.
It was good to finally meet a few of you guys face to face, maybe next year we should plan the h-talk event.
I guess I live a sheltered existance as far as controls go and therefor miss some of the subtleties that other pick up on in the industry but I thought all the big players were there.
Was there truly not much new to be seen in the way of new controllers or platforms?
I wasn't at Chicago the year before but it seems to me there were a bunch of small control vendors that I had never seem before all with Bacnet products.
I did finally get to look at Can2Go and it does seem like a very nice product but how the purchase by Schnieder affects that product I guess remains to be seen.
Do people see that as a positive or negative?
I did go to a number of the Lonmark sponsored seminars and was bit disappointed by things that were discussed, the one seminar about creating a common platform for application development via profiles that are protocal irrelevant seems nice on the surface but ultimately too good to be true kind of scenario. Isn't the technology ultimately already available and are they just pushing a solution that mimics an "Easy" button? Maybe I missed the point of the whole thing. The second half of the cluod computing seminar where automated demand response was discussed was helpful though.
The retro-commissioning seminar put on by NEBB was very good.
As usual it was good to see the Loytec guys and get a look at the new LWEB 900 platform and also see first hand the IP controllers, Daryl owes me lunch by demoing LWEB802 for him by showing some guys live data at my building via my andriod phone even with lousy cell reception. Now I just need to save my money to go to Loytec Building Symposium in Vienna Austria in October. (I highly recommend it)
It was good to see Circon displaying their new web based visual integrator and graphical programming. I heard a number of people say "I thought you were out of business?"
so I'm sure the exposure will do them good.
The one thing I saw that I have never heard of before was the DGLux front end solution, very very slick looking. Anybody have any hands on experience with this product?

I checked out the DG stuff a few years back, but that was as far as I got.
I have started playing with DGLux a little as a side project at home, to get a feel for it - I am seriously thinking about running a Mango server with DGLux as a front end for our new hospital - It sure would be a huge improvement over the current Alerton front end. DGLux seems to be VERY mobile/touchscreen friendly as well - perfect for our facilities engineers in the field simply pulling up the front end on Android or iOS phones - or tablets for a more usable platform.Quote:
