This post is to see what Anti-Virus programs members here use and recommend. I have been using McAfee for three years now. I think it is great, but I don't have anything to compare it with. My annual subsciption ($34.99)is due on the 21st and I am interested in hearing how you feel about what you are using.

McAfee has kept my old clunker disease free! :D

I have Norton's Internet Security 2005. Includes firewall, anti-spam which works somewhat, and a couple other things.
It caught something nasty last night and Spy-bot caught this virus trying to change the registry. 1-2 punch saved me.

I have the same as The Bald one, it just don't seem to catch the spyware so I use Adaware for that. I remember a bunch of other freeware stuff mentioned on here before for spyware, so you should have so many opinions you'll never be able to decide.

Norton Anti Virus and Internet security. They can be a PIA with they're popups. Sometimes I think they are the disease:D
And the anti this and that outfits probably have some of their engineers in the off hours write bugs and worms.
Necessary evil :D

I fully agree. That's all I use now. They give regular, free updates, and I've never had a virus slip through.

That is what I use.
That is what the National weather service here in Des Moines uses for their web server.
I like McAfee, but they missed one that AVG caught and now that is all I recommend...

I have been using Norton's A/V for years and never cought a bug. (Keep all A/V's up-to-date!) Their Internet Security suite is VERY good. And a good value. (Has A/V, firewall, parental control and a good pop-up blocker)
But now-a-days you need A/V and spywere dector. Ad-Aware and Spy Bot, search & destroy, are both free and do a good job cleaning up a system. Good old Microsoft has just released a (beta) spyware program for free (right now).
I have the 2004 verson of Norton's but will buy the newest when I have to up-date the subsciption.
We have AVG on the college computers out here and we have had a few bugs get through (On an older verson for what it's worth).
Yuma,

I canned the Norton Suite...it reaaalllyyy slowed my Internet connection. I now use AVG free, Zone Alarm free, Spybot, XCleaner, and Spyware Blaster. Also, keep the Win2K updated, and run Google tool bar for pop-up control. No problems, and the connection is MUCH faster.

I also use the free edition of AVG.
The new version updates your software automatically and tells you when it's performing update.
Also, the price is right.
