Being a certified installer is different than being an authorized dealer, but that does mean that your contractor was CERTIFIED to do the WORK.

A permit was pulled and the installation passed county inspection.Quote:

Wow! I would ask that an electrical inspector look at this. I can't believe that this would fly. Just amazing, we have to have electrical permits on top of mechanical even on retro replacements.Quote:

Are you sure the inspector was from a "governmental" agency? I can see nothing good about this installation, and I agree it belongs on the 'wall of shame.' No one, whether they were an authorized (brand) dealer or not, would want their name associated with this installation. It has happened in the past, that "inspectors" come out to look at the job, and only afterwards is it discovered that the "inspector" was the sales manager for the company. As it turns out, no one from the licensing and code enforcement department ever saw the job. I agree, that someone else should look at this job. My prediction, if you aren't already having problems, you probably will in the near future.
A key word here is "Authorized",most mfrs. don't allow the use of the word,as it makes them liable for the dealers actions. Not saying that dealers /contractors don't say it all the time, but mfrs. are not likely to state it.
By the looks of the pictures there were probably 2 people working on this job together and 1 did the terrible outside work while the other did the not so good but better than outside work inside.....
here in edmonton anybody can be a trane dealer all you have to agree to is buy some of there product and pay the wholesaler $50 per month quality and knowledge doesnt mean a thing.
go ahead and put a mop and mop bucket by the air handler. that preformed trap is not going to cut it on that vs airhandler. that unit will suck the water right out of it.
I can't remotely believe that this installation passed any kind of inspection. Electrically it is a mess. What state are you in? Have you personnally checked to see if there is a permit? Call and find out what the inspection code they are using. Is there a GFCI within 25 ft? You never answered a previous question about him being the low bidder.
Not all contractors are created equal. Even if this guy was the low bidder it is painfully obvious to me that "he" has none pride in workmanship.
Hopefully the inspection department can help you.
I do not think the install looks that bad. Yes some areas could be done a little better, but i have seen much worse. Some people expect to see a picture, but low bid work has to be done quickly, in and out in hours!
I'm think the outside looks like crap. I don't know about where you are but that would never pass inspection in our area. Also it violates the NEC.
They obviously didn't know what were doing 'cause they didn't use the heat shield to protect the plastic panel on the air handler.Even with a turbo torch,if they used the shield,it wouldn't look that bad. And why didn't they take off the panel to the condenser before they brazed the lineset?I mean they had to remove to WIRE it!My answer HACKS!
wow
these pictures give a new meaning to the word HACK

and it works but for how long
get ready for a lot of service calls
