Hoshi KM-500MAE -drove me nuts I had the exact same fault. Condenser plugged solid with grease, no cleaning done in 12 years. Cleaned the machine top to bottom. Float switch was also flaky so i replaced it. There was quite a bit of tin/solder on the bottom of the sump so I warned the owner about the evap plates pulling off. In a 39 min feeze cycle the machine made 8 lbs of ice instead of 10. 3 of us went over everything on that machine over 4 days. You could watch 4 cycles and it work fine, starting on the fifth the freeze cycle it ould take longer to freeze 8lbs of ice (43 min), gradually the frreze cycle would hit 60 min 2 times in a row and the machine would lock up. The compressor needed the run-in time. On the 6th cycle at 5 min 81 lo/192 hi first cycle was 43 lo/267 hi (digital manifold) with a tared in charge of 11lbs , 8 oz. Owner isn't happy now, somehow we were figure it out on the first day.

had the same problem for days system would reset and run perfect and overnight shut down on 3 beeps so after getting my ass kicked for three trips i sit in the bar for a few and it happens while I'm sitting there started to hear the water pump to make a strange noise and it was cavitating and very little water in the sump so it needed a harvest, i changed the float and problem gone
Went on similar call today myself. Mani B 1300 remote. Found unit off on 4 blinks. (High discharge line temp). Started unit up and compressor starts sweating and then the sweat turns to ice. I feel the liquid line and its hot. Take my cooper clamp on and get a temp of 135°F. Go up on the roof and the condensor's packed with dirt. I clean condensor coil and fire unit back up. Checked liquid line again after a while and it's 116° F. and compressor doesn't appear to flooding anymore. So i let it ride. I am thinking flash gas in the liquid line caused the valves to go wide open. But the 4 blink alarm has me wondering. By the way i never put my gauges on it.

Sticks....gonna fail, going bad.....gonna fail, shorted......gonna fail. Before you go all crazy here.......was it actullay making any ice??? Was the evaporator frozen solid? What do the filters look like? What does the inlet screen look like? Is the water valve leaking by during freeze? Is the spring assembly good? Is the machine clean? Are the cube guides broken or cracked? Is the float dirty? Are the lines dirty? I would start by pulling the entire charge....and I mean the ENTIRE!!!! Make sure you get it all. Then weigh in factory charge and start it up. I have yet to replace any part of the refrigerant cycle. Those things last forever. problem is most likely somewhere else.
cooldude is right 3 beeps freeze cycle to long. Ran into a problem like that before Pull and weigh in new charge. Factory is no help there service rep said ( dreaded three beep good luck). Check condensor fan motor for worn Bearings. Ck hot gas valve. Ck water valve. My problem was unit was installed in a metal building that was unconditioned. Went two times fist thing in morning unit would reset and dump fine. Last time was about 2:00 pm found temp in building at 110* They put in a large Barn fan unit worked fine.
I believe 3 beeps is freeze cycle greater than 60 minutes, with a high suction pressure, you need to check superheat to diagnose txv problem.
may be the float, I know some machines harvest off the float swith
since you put gauges on it I would pull the charge, pull a vacuum and weigh in the correct charge. THEN look at the chart that tells you what 3 beeps means. I dont have my chart handy so don;t remember what 3 beeps is but when the machine is nice enough to give me a trouble code I always look there first. If you suspect the solenoids are leaking hot gas you should be able to take temps to verify this. I can't even remember having to change an expansion valve on a hoshi. just my 2 cents
Is bulb properly attached to suction line and insulated and tight. May want to recover refrigerant to verify correct charge. I don't know if hot gas valve partially stuck open would cause liquid floodback. Maybe some others could answer that one.
couldn't tell ya. When I work on ice machines.....my guages stay in the truck. 99% of the time the problem is electrical or with a component in the water cycle and not the refrigerant cycle.
Hoshizaki KM-630mre machine shutting down on 3 beep lockout. Start machine up and found suction pressure at 80 psi after coming out of initial harvest. I assumed empansion valve flooding due to cold compressor and low discharge temperature. I got to thinking about it after i left that it was possibly the hot gasvalve bypassing in freeze. I already ordered the expansion valve. what do you guys think?
