All the fam lives so far away. The young uns change so much each visit we have with em.
They went from pampers to story books to grade school ... seemingly overnight!

You gotta catch em while their young. Enjoy being their grand daddy while they will sit still for you.

Nobody on their death bed, ever regreted not spending more time at their work! But they did have regrets over not having spent more time with the family doing things the younger ones wanted to do.

I met a guy in REI, (an outfitter store) this afternoon who is buying a kayak in hopes his 13 year old son may wish to join him paddling together.
He wants to spend time with his son. How special.

We need to fight for every minute we can get with our kids. This trade sure doenst make allowances for us to plan fishing trips or camp outs.

My granddaugther just turned 16. She is a modern day hippie. The newpaper editor publishes regular letters from her denouncing one establishment or the other. Megan was on the corner protesting the Bush election. Outspoken, smart and opinionated. She drives my son nuts with her rebellious ways. Serves him right. I am really proud of her.

PS, This week her hair color is sort of blue and the protest is the killing of chickens for food. Sorry bigbird you are on her sh!t list.

    Over Thanksgiving Weekend .......
I was siitting in my step son's living room watching the game on tv. His daughter came out with a book and handed it to me to read.
She's three, her brother is four. As I began reading this children's story, he crawled up on my lap and so did she. He fell asleep and she looked at the pictures as I read the words.

Afterwards, she called me Papaw. My new name.

I wish my wife had brought her camera over.
