To be fair Jeff, the Mods do a hell of a job directing this site. This Junk Yard forum will stretch their limits. These guys deserve all the respect we can muster as they do their jobs here. I respect each of them greatly and don't like throwing pie in their face.

I want this forum to work. It is just a small step to where it may head in the future depending on the site owners discretion and foresight.

This is a Junk Yard forum where you can sell it if you don't need it. He doesn't need it. There are no rules that say you have to be a Professional Member to sell here.

If this forum doesn't work in the open area of the site then I will not lock it down to the Professional areas only. I don't want to do that. There are many guys in this business that are not registered as a Professional Member. Also, to lock it down in the Pro area would diminish traffic.

This is a test forum. If it turns out to be a mess then I will delete it and all of its contents.

I'm not trying to 'argue'. If you say most people can't hook up a stat, who am I to disagree? so i don't.

I also was not intentionally "asking for" anything when I in good faith posted a stat that I had no more use for, in the hope that I could create a win/win where someone else gets a virtually brand-new product for a significant discount, and I don't lose my entire investment.

I get that you feel that I should sell it for so little that's it's hardly worth the effort, perhaps to teach me some lesson? 8-}, but i'd still like to think there's a still a middle ground where everyone wins.

One of my most common service calls for residential is the DIY/HO tried to install a tstat and hooked it up wrong and fried the transformer.

Why do you insist to argue? You asked for it when you posted a tstat for that much, and we gave you our opinions.
Your best bet, let this alone...

This is why I specifically asked the BOSS for permission first. I wasn't sure it was ok or not.

and I get that you don't want people coming here for instruction on how to do general HVAC stuff - installation, even duct work, is a skilled trade, I agree with that. But you really want to insist that people call a pro if all they want to do is swap their stat?

Maybe I started too high, but if someone took this off me for, say $75. I get 1/2 my money back, and they get a good stat for 1/2 price. everybody wins, i think?

why would an all-electronic part, that worked for 4 months, suddenly fail? If you trust the seller, you are getting a part for under $100 that you probably normally sell at close to $200, hopefully the extra $60 or so you pocket mitigates the risk. On my end, it may not be worth selling for like $30 or so, and with 2 new evolution stats, I doubt I will ever need a spare.

ALSO - you forget that homeowners also frequent this forum. Saving $50+ for a DIYer may be significant.

Because it is an electrical/electronic item, that who knows if it works, let alone the warranty on it now, if there is one.
We in this field are accustomed to no returns from our suppliers on anything electrical/electronic, let alone it is used now.
If you can sell it, more power to you, it is just IMO, you might...be able to get 30-40 dollars for it.
Maybe keep it for a backup, or give it to a friend?
A good deal is if someone wants it.
Why would an HVAC contractor on this forum, want a hundred dollar part, that will come with no warranty, and it is used now, if he or she sells it to their customer, and it does not work, or fails in 30 days?

ok - but why would 1/2 price for something in new condition not be a good deal?

As smokin68 said, you probably did pay what your saying for this tstat, and you "might" find someone to buy it, but with electrical/electronic components, once used, can not be returned, and your best bet, if you really want to unload it, is take your best offer.
If no one is making an offer, that tells you something..
I don't want it, but I am figuring about 1/4 of what you paid for it...

your link is where I bought mine - was like $142 or something with shipping, and the lowest price for this model new. So I'm knocking 1/3 off the price for one that is essentially new. A few months of use doesn't degrade electronics. And you know mine isn't faulty
