The guy with the stiches in his back could have had bigbird arrested for assault. Bigbird would done someback to him to retaliate. And on and on it goes until it is a rageing war in the work place.

we started doing "pranks" to each other. Wiring cars horn to blinker, etc.... One day we were getting loaded at a local bar. I left first and tied about 10 beer cans on a long piece of fishing line and tied it to his bumper, threw um under his car, and walked home. He didn't notice the cans till the next day in front of his house. He was so mad that I almost (could have) got him a DUI that he quit working for me and has never been to a bar since!

practical jokes can be really funny but you gotta make sure the recipient won't be offended or injured, etc. I love a good practical joke but i'm a slightly more careful these days. about 24 yrs ago, I was in A school in the Navy. After school one day, I pulled the chair out from behind one of my classmates just before he sat down and he never knew it, split the back of his head wide open to the tune of several stitches !!! I felt awful about it. He forgave me and I didn't get in trouble as they lied about it to cover me but I still felt so terrible.

I really hate that game but I can't stop playing it. Two years of trying and have never won. I was on a roll this week and then got skunked for Sunday. Just one would have given me at least a tie for 1st.

As far a pratical jokes go, I just don't have the time or the inclination for it. However I don't see a problem with a harmless bit of humor in the work place. This guy could have handled himself much better than he did. False accusations do not set well with me. Nor does disrupting a service meeting to act like an ass.

Looks like there are several people on these boards who I wouldn't want to work for. What must the morale be at work if fun isn't allowed? While I agree that there is a line at physical harm and permanant damage to property, harmless jokes shouldn't be "outlawed."

Sometimes a practical joke can be dangerous.I worked at a meat packing plant years ago.I loaded front & hind quarters in truck trailers. The beef were hanging on meat hooks on a overhead track.We unhook the beef & the hook goes to the end of the rail wear we took them of the track.One of the guys brought in a fake rattlesnake & hung it over the hook

What a bunch of cry babies. If you can't have a little fun at work ( cause your there more than at your own home most of the time)then why be there. You gotta loosen up.

no time for that kind of thing, plus i would never want to do any thing that might hurt someone, id never beable

All the hardballs - lighten up! If the salesman had a little class he would have spoke to the GM about it and suspecting the techs (would like to know his reason(s) why) he could have had a private chat with the SM rather than bustin down the door and breaking in on the techs and SM during a meeting. I`m positive that he didn`t win any hearts (or minds) among the service personnel. Next time this guy wants or needs something from them I`m sure they`ll do it with real love in their hearts.
I`m not in line with outright firing people for this either. If it`s such a big deal a warning is given and heads role second time around . As far as the guy removing his tire and putting it back on without properly tightening down the lugs...well i guess that just one them there steamin, fumin Yosemite Sam moments! The guy should have made sure his lugs are on proper after he took him off - nevermind blaming other people that he can`t pin for it. Hope his life insurance is current.

I would have been unhappy as well. This kind of stuff is foolish and immature. I need men working for me not boys. I do not have any of that in my company and will not tolerate foolishness. I would fire the one who did this and one else involved.

Was at my current job for two months and working on a roof two stories up with another guy downtown, college town, lots of hot women walking around. Whenever one of us had to run down to the van for something we would usually shout to/from the roof at each other for something, work related of course. After the job was finished we called our dispatcher for next job and she sounded pissy as she told us where we were going next and bye the way, to stop shouting a women from the roof top, people were calling and complaining. I got all pissed, because we weren't, olny yelling to each other from the roof about work related things. And only being on the job two months and still in 90 day probation period, I didn't need this. I was telling the guy I was with, "wait 'till I get back to the shop, this is bullsh*t!" going on and on about it. Turns out dispatcher was just busting on us and I sucked myself right in to it. I had a sense of humor about. I love a good practical joke, no matter what end of it I am on, but it needs to be good. I hate lame ones and people who can pull them but then get bent out of shape when someone else gets them.

It was the guy that his wife hired to have him bumped.

I like the burnt out smoke gag. stoke up a cig and set on a small piece of plastic, clear, harder but paperthin type stuff. Let it burnout and keep the ashes intact with drips of Krazy glue. Resulting burn on the plastic looks authentic, then set it on the anti smokers desk or comp. On top of the coffeemaker is another good spot.

I waited until the crew cleared out and set on the white coffeemaker, 1st one to see it was the GM he went around for an hour checking who in the office smoked what and trying to find the culprit and left it there, did not realize it was fake. He showed several people the evidence before someone realized the gag. Worked well. Luck and Timing sure helped.

I would have been pissed too. BUT.............Thats funny as hell. Why cant I think of mess like that?

Never mess with a person's food or vehicle. Plenty of fun can be had in the workplace and those 2 simple rules usually help keep it friendly and easy to shrug off. Sawdust, grease, adhesives, etc. are easy to play with and shrug off. Sometimes a bit of laughter keeps people from going nuts, as long as nobody stands to get hurt.
