Am I understanding correctly, you work for JCSS? Non-Union? You must be a BAS Tech then.

I did.... Does that make me "special"? Hated every minute I was there.... They bought the company I worked for for ten years... I did not go to them.

I am vested and they will last as long as I pay my dues.

I am in a somewhat rare situation though.... We have not experienced a slow down in ANY form for the last 10 years, not one day....

All I am trying to point out is that you can't get something for nothing. Not trying to throw gas on your trash can fire...

I couldn't argue with that but is not a union thing the other side does it too.

The union is not perfect, I understand you have an axe to grind.
One more thing. What are you dues out of that 31.08? And what are your monthly dues? You have to figure those as a loss. You do deduct these from your taxes don't you?

So all the rest of that money goes to your bennies. I like to have control over that. I don't like other people investing my money. That is my personal choice. To many pensions are at critical status and I don't think they will be paying as we'll as everyone hopes when they retire. I know they are guaranteed by the government but when has the government come through on a guarantee? Just something to think about.

Non-National companies can sign the NSMA if they're part of the Mechanical Svc. Contractors, which is a division of the MCAA. There's fees for the shop to be part of the MSC. Companies like Emcor, Hussmann, McQuay and Trane can sign this agreement for individual branches.
National companies like Carrier, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, and Siemens have their own Agreements.

Never heard of the NSMA (National Service Maintenance Agreement).

It appears that they use local UA contractors that are part of the MCAA (Mechanical Contractors Association of America), correct?

So, is the employee a member of the NSMA or is the NSMA an agreement between the MCAA and the UA for training and labor? Or is it something for the big companies to have 1 set of rules nationwide?

I only spent about 10 minutes digging up some info on this...
